Life has been a wonderful, challenging and rewarding journey for Ed and me – with ups and downs throughout.

We have celebrated 50 years of marriage. We have our health and have been blessed with two healthy children, seven fantastic grandchildren and two perfect great-grandchildren.  We survived our children’s teen years, saw them be rewarded for accomplishments in their adult lives and celebrated with them as they married and became parents and grandparents. We gave thanks for competent doctors in Beloit and at UW  Madison for the positive outcomes of Ed’s two open-heart surgeries.

Now, we are enjoying retirement – travelling a little, golfing  and working part-time at the Red Barn Golf Course for me, puttering for Ed after many years in retail meat cutting and being involved in our grandchildren’s activities and enjoying time with wonderful friends.

 Life is good!

After graduation I went to X-ray School at St. Mary's in Madison and roomed with Karen Bue.
I worked in Madison for awhile then married in 1965.  My son Brett was born in 1969.  I divorced in 1971 and remarried in 1974 . I am blessed with a wonderful husband of 38 years and 2 daughters.  He adopted Brett and our family is complete.  Brett is a master electrician.  Courtney (oldest daughter) is a nurse and Tiffany is a math and English teacher at a college in Iowa.  We have 2 grandchildren, a granddaughter, Adison, age 4 and a grandson, Reed, age 6 months.  I started my own business in 1980 as a Real Estate Appraiser and retired after 25 years in that field.  Life has been good!  Family and friends are lifes greatest joys.

I lost my best friend and soul mate when my husband, Larry, passed away in October of 2010 from pnuemonia and stroke related conditions.

We were blessed with two children, Lori & Jeff who have grown to be loving and productive adults.  Lori works for Opportunities, an organization devoted to finding job placement for special needs adults.  Jeff is a commanding officer in the U. S. Navy.  We have 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  The grandkids have more than made up for any of the turbulent times their parents put us through during their teen years.  Karly (pictured) was our first-born grandchild who was "almost" born on my birthday. We also have two daughters "of the heart."  We hosted two AFS students...Jacqui, Australia and Kivilcim, Turkey.  They'll always be a part of our family.

I've worked various jobs and did manage to pick up a few college credits, but no real career to speak of. My favorite was working as a teacher's aide.  It felt strange at first to receive a paycheck from the school system since I had worked as a volunteer in the schools from the time the kids entered Kindergarten and  up until their high school graduations.  They both survived their college years without my input.   While the volunteer years were gratifying...I have to admit I did come to enjoy getting a paycheck.

Proudest accomplishments were those of being a wife, mother and grandmother.  Also, I have the best friends anyone could hope for.

At the top of my "Bucket List" is a home  in a cute, little camper and  hitting the road to explore   this great country.   I trust my compass more than maps or a GPS and don't believe in getting lost.  Every detour or  road untraveled is an adventure!

Looking forward to seeing everone.

January 15, 1944 Retired Widowed 1

Following graduation from the Illinois Institute of Technology, I entered graduate school at the University of Wisconsin – Madison where I met my future wife, Sandy. We married after completing our studies in 1971.

We settled in Fond du Lac where I worked as an R&D engineer and later as VP Engineering for Giddings and Lewis. Sandy taught bacteriology at the UW – Oshkosh.  Our daughter, Beth, was born in Fond du Lac.

When I accepted a position at Gould Motion Control Division (Racine) in 1982 we relocated to Greendale. Embracing the craft that she loved, Sandy transitioned from her career in academia to become a nationally known knitwear designer and instructor.

In 1988 we relocated again, this time to West Chester, PA  not far from Philadelphia, where Sandy grew up. I held various positions in Engineering and Operations management at Mars, Inc. until retiring in 2005. Following my retirement, we enjoyed trips to Alaska, Brazil (to visit Sandy’s relatives), Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Iceland among others. After 40 wonderful years together Sandy died of pancreatic cancer in 2010.

Beth (pictured) earned her MD and PhD from Northwestern University and now is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. We see each other frequently despite the distance.

I still live in West Chester and am involved in Rotary, volunteering for local non-profits, and planning future travel adventures. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with friends from the Class of '62.
